What is systematic innovation management?
Systematic innovation management is a structured, proactive approach to leading and organizing innovation activities in an organization. It is grounded in the ISO 56000 family of international standards and provides a framework for creating favorable conditions, removing barriers, and building the capabilities needed for innovation success. The discipline covers principles, processes, strategies, culture, leadership, and performance assessment.
What is the ISO 56000 family of standards?
The ISO 56000 family is a set of international standards for innovation management developed by experts from more than 50 countries. It includes ISO 56000 (terms, definitions, and principles), ISO 56001 (the requirement standard for innovation management systems, enabling certification), and ISO 56002 (the guidance standard for implementation). Together, they provide a common language and credible reference framework for managing innovation activities.
What is an innovation management system?
An innovation management system is a set of interrelated elements that an organization uses to establish the conditions for and manage its innovation activities. It covers seven high-level elements: context, leadership, planning, support, operations, evaluation, and improvement. The system is described in the international standards ISO 56001 and ISO 56002 and shares the same structure as ISO 9001 (quality) and ISO 14001 (environment).
What is the difference between ISO 56001 and ISO 56002?
ISO 56001 is the requirement standard – it specifies what an innovation management system must include and enables organizations to be independently audited and certified. ISO 56002 is the guidance standard – it provides recommendations for implementation. Both have the same structure and are interchangeable for practical use, except that only ISO 56001 serves as the basis for third-party certification.
Can I get personally certified as an innovation management professional?
Yes. In addition to organizational certification with ISO 56001, individuals can earn a third-party personal certification as an innovation management professional. Certification is available at two levels – Innovation Management Professional and Innovation Management Associate – and is assessed and issued by accredited certification bodies. This program builds the competencies needed to pursue personal certification.
How long does the program take to complete?
The program consists of 14 learning modules with 10–14 lessons each. The total study time is 30–50 hours, depending on your pace and ambition. You learn at your own pace, in bite-sized steps, on any device. The subscription gives you 12 months of access.
Who is the program designed for?
The program is designed for leaders, managers, and professionals who influence innovation activities – whether you are part of a leadership team, a line or project manager, an expert, an auditor, or a consultant. It works for any organization, large or small, public or private, in any sector, or across collaborating organizations.
What languages is the program available in?
The program is currently available in English, French, Spanish, Japanese, Chinese, and Korean. German, Portuguese, Swedish, and Thai are planned. Video captions, guiding texts, and downloads are translated. Video sound and text on slides remain in English, but it is possible to complete the main parts of the program without English language skills.
Can my organization get ISO 56001 certified?
Yes. ISO 56001 is the international requirement standard that enables organizations to have their innovation management system independently audited and certified by a certification body. The program teaches you how the system works and what is required, giving your organization the knowledge foundation to pursue certification.
What is included in the subscription?

After completing the program and a final knowledge test, you receive an Amplify certificate of completion and a CPD certificate.
