The Implementing ISO 56001 training program provides individuals and teams with the knowledge and skills necessary to start implementing or strengthening an existing innovation management system based on ISO 56001, in any organization. At the end of the program, participants have developed a comprehensive implementation plan that covers essential topics, such as crafting an innovation strategy, developing deep insights, and fostering an innovation culture.

After completing the program, you will be able to:
- Understand the purpose, benefits, and content of an innovation management system, including the requirements of ISO 56001.
- Perform an innovation management assessments to identify, prioritize, and address capability gaps.

Prerequisites
It is preferred that program participants have a mandate or an assignment from their organization to start the journey of implementing an innovation management system and that they have access to selected senior leaders for interviews and workshops. Participants must be prepared to conduct work (about 3 hours per week) in their own organization between the program sessions.
It is recommended to have 2-4 participants from each organization in the program, but one individual is also possible (preferably with one or more persons supporting from the organization).
Program overview
The program covers the fundamentals of systematic innovation management, an assessment of the organization’s innovation capabilities, engagement with top or senior management to develop the innovation intent and strategy, and creation of an organization-specific implementation plan.
It is a group-based training program that provides participants with structured learning and shared insights. It does not provide tailored or organization-specific advice or consulting.
As part of the program, participants prepare, conduct, and conclude an innovation management assessment using the latest methods, including AI-enabled tools, aligned with ISO 56004 Innovation Management Assessment – Guidance. This approach lays the foundation for a strategic, proactive, and structured innovation management journey.

You can learn on any device at your own pace in bite-sized steps. Each module is divided into 10-12 lessons, making it easy to focus on what is relevant to you.

About the content

The main content is produced by Amplify and includes original videos and slide shows, interactive dialogues and charts, and downloadable guides and tools. All modules have cases with examples from different organizations, situation-specific guides with recommended actions, questions for individual and team reflections, summaries of key takeaways, and knowledge tests.
Most lessons end with a “Learn more” section with optional external content for deeper learning based on your interests. We have based all content on the latest practices, leading research findings, and international standards.
Program outline
The program blends live online sessions with online self-paced studies and assignments. The online learning modules are the foundation of the program and prepare you for the expert-led online live sessions and work between sessions. The program duration is approximately two to three months, with live sessions and assignments outlined as follows:

- Assignment: Study and reflect on the relevant learning modules.
- Session #2: Insights, uncertainty, & processes.

- Session #5: Introduction to innovation management assessments and innovation intent.
- Assignment: Organization-specific assessment and senior management interviews.
- Session #6: Reflections on assessment gaps and interview results.
- Assignment: Refine and validate the assessment and intent, including focus areas and objectives.
- Session #7: Crafting an innovation strategy and determining performance indicators.
- Assignment: Develop the first version of the innovation strategy, including performance indicators.
- Session #8: Reflecting of the innovation strategy and establishing the implementation plan.
- Assignment and beyond: Validate and drive the implementation plan.
All sessions are 2 hours live online sessions. The total study time is about 50-70 hours.
A learning portal, Amplify Academy, is available for all participants for 12 months to facilitate continuous and long-term learning and serves as your knowledge resource and hub for all program activities and communications.
Through this curriculum, we aim to maximize your learning experience and satisfy different learning styles by delivering the content through a mix of self-studies, discussions, assignments, tools, and case studies. During the program, you will meet people in your situation and thus build fruitful relationships and networks.
Program language
The program language is English in both the self-paced part and expert-led sessions.
Certifications
Participants will receive an Amplify certificate of completion after passing an online exam.
You will also get a certificate for completing the Systematic Innovation Management e-learning modules that is part of the program. The certificate will be issued by CPDUK and gives you 50 hours of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) credits.
The program also prepares you for third-party personal certification at the Innovation Management Associate and Innovation Management Professional levels depending on your experience. It is a separate service provided by RISE Certification.
